Bud Hornbeck is an insurance industry executive recognized for his strong talents in building successful enterprises. As a founding principal of The Lutgert Resnick Group, Bud’s focus is developing new client relationships as well as aligning existing relationships from the various divisions of the Lutgert Companies. “Many of our existing clients have similar backgrounds as high level executives or successful privately held business owners. The one piece we were always missing was providing guidance in the high end life insurance and estate planning arena. The Lutgert Resnick Group is uniquely qualified and was created to solely serve this niche.”
In addition, since August, 1995 Bud has been the President and CEO of Lutgert Insurance based in Naples. His experience in the insurance industry dates to 1976 when he served as a Life Agent with the Travelers Insurance Company in South Bend, Indiana. In 1978, Bud joined the Warren Hornbeck Agency, also located in South Bend. After the sale of the Warren Hornbeck Agency in 1984 Bud accepted the position of Commercial Manager with James L. Martin, Inc. in Naples, Florida and then took over as President for Smith Lesher Insurance in 1995. Bud’s educational background includes attending Culver Military Academy and Indiana University where he majored in Business Administration. He is a 1992 graduate of The Leadership Collier Program and the recipient of the 1995 Leadership Collier Distinguished Alumnus Award. Bud’s impressive community service history includes serving as board member and active supporter of numerous youth athletic programs, educational institutions and charitable organizations. He is especially known for his role in helping to create and his on-going leadership of the Winged Foot Scholarship Foundation and for his work on behalf of the Greater Naples Little League, the Subaru LPGA Memorial Golf Tournament, the ACE Classic PGA Golf tournament, the Collier County Education Foundation, the American Heart Association of Collier County, Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame, The Naples Area Chamber of Commerce and many others.
Scott F. Lutgert is a founding principal of The Lutgert Resnick Group. Scott has had an impressive history in creating, leading, and building successful business enterprises. One of Scott’s unique abilities is selecting and aligning the right relationships, as proven in his most recent efforts in co-creating The Lutgert Resnick Group. He serves an integral role in building the success of the organization.
As a resident and real estate developer in Naples and Southwest Florida since 1970, Scott serves as the Chairman of The Lutgert Companies. Through his leadership, The Lutgert Companies developed the Park Shore community in Naples including 17 luxury high-rises as well as 6 additional high rise condominiums at Bonita Bay in Bonita Springs, Florida. Scott has also developed two golf course communities, various shopping centers and office buildings including Estuary at Grey Oaks, Linville Ridge in North Carolina, The Village on Venetian Bay, The Promenade, The Northern Trust Building, and most recently, Mercato, a mixed use center in North Naples.
In 1984, Scott founded Premier Properties of Southwest Florida, Inc., to serve as the brokerage company for The Lutgert Companies’ developments. In November of 2010 Premier Properties affiliated with Sotheby’s International Realty; changed its name to Premier Sotheby’s International Realty; expanded along the Southwest Coast of Florida; and currently operates 18 offices from Clearwater to Marco Island with headquarters in Naples, Florida.
Scott is a member of many local and national associations and is currently on the Board of Directors for Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida’s Council of 100. He has served on the Boards of the Shelter for Abused Women and Children, The Philharmonic of Naples, Patty & Jay Baker Naples Museum of Art, Naples Community Hospital and the Naples Children and Education Foundation/Naples Winter Wine Festival, among others. He has been named a business Leadership Hall of Fame laureate by the Junior Achievement (2002) and Gulfshore Life’s Man of the Year (2004). Scott is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from the Urban Land Institute (2004); the Outstanding Leaders in Philanthropy Award (2004) with the Trustees of the Naples Children and Education Foundation; the Edison College Foundation LIFE (Leadership In Fostering Education) Award (2007) with his father, Raymond L. Lutgert; the Outstanding Philanthropists Award (2008), and the United Arts Council – Stars in the Arts Award (2013) with his wife, Simone Lutgert.
Billie Resnick is a founding principal of The Lutgert Resnick Group. She focuses on the strategic design and implementation of life insurance programs for affluent families, individuals, and senior executives in the areas of estate planning, business succession, charitable planning and buy-sell agreements. Billie is also recognized for her successful implementation of difficult underwriting cases and is credited for her highly effective in-force life insurance policy monitoring systems, which is utilized by attorneys, CPAs, Family Offices, and Trust Departments on behalf of their clients. As an advocate of the team approach, Billie frequently provides support to clients’ CPAs, attorneys, trust officers, and other professionals.
Billie, along with her husband John, and Larry Brody, Esq. were recently invited to co-author the upcoming book, Due Diligence of Trust Owned Life Insurance, published by the American Bar Association. Her articles on life insurance and estate planning have appeared in national publications such as The Journal of Practical Estate Planning and Journal of Retirement Planning, both published by Commerce Clearing House (CCH), as well as The Pennsylvania Bankers Magazine, The Harrisburg Patriot-News, and many others.
Billie has co-created and instructed numerous educational courses for CPA’s and attorneys on the proper use of life insurance in estate planning that were presented at the Annual Estate Planning Conference for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida State University’s College of Business, and the Pennsylvania Bankers School of Trust and Wealth Management conducted at Bucknell University.
Billie and her husband, John, created the nationally syndicated radio program, “Legends of Success with John Resnick” in 2002, which shares John’s personal interviews with America’s most respected CEO’s and members of the Forbes 400 list. In addition, Billie has been involved in a number of charitable fundraisers including events for Pinnacle Health Foundation and co-creating Legends Live Event featuring Steve Forbes and Dr. Patrick T. Harker, Dean of the Wharton School, which paid special tribute to The Vista School of Central Pennsylvania, an organization assisting young children with autism. Billie and John have been involved with a number of charitable organizations including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center, The Kids Trust, Daystar Kids, and Winged Foot Scholarship Foundation in Naples, FL.
Billie received her Juris Doctorate and graduated magna cum laude from the Widener University School of Law where she was Business/External Managing Editor of the Widener Law Journal. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and was the recipient of numerous academic achievement awards for receiving the highest grade in her class. She graduated magna cum laude from Dickinson College with a B.A. in Political Science.

John focuses on the strategic design and implementation of life insurance programs for affluent families, individuals, and senior executives in the areas of estate planning, business succession, charitable planning and buy-sell agreements. He is also credited for his highly effective in-force life insurance policy monitoring system, which is utilized by attorneys, CPAs, Family Offices, and Trust Departments on behalf of their clients. John is an advocate of the team approach and believes that clients are better served when their professional team works in concert.
John has served as an adjunct professor of Family-Owned Business Studies and has lectured extensively at schools and universities, including The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Florida State University’s College of Business.
John, his wife Billie Resnick, Esq., and Larry Brody, Esq were recently invited by the American Bar Association to co-author the ABA’s upcoming book, Due Diligence of Trust Owned Life Insurance, a national reference book for attorneys and other advanced planning professionals. John has instructed continuing education courses that were attended by over 2,000 CPAs and attorneys on the proper uses of life insurance in estate planning and buy-sell agreements for privately-held business owners.
His articles have been published by newspapers and business journals throughout the U.S., including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Commerce Clearing House (CCH) Journal of Practical Estate Planning.
